Private Voice

As a teacher, I’m proud to put all my varied experiences together into a teaching style that is effective and accessible. The foundation of my method is 10 years of classical Bel Canto vocal study, but my 30+ years of pop/rock/jazz performance have had a huge impact, too! Mix in a holistic music degree from Naropa University, Reiki Level II Training and Sound Healing studies, and out comes my unique take on singing and teaching voice. My style is relaxed & intuitive, backed-up by a wealth of education, knowledge and experience, and a strong desire to help people find the beauty in their own voices. (check Bio page for details! https://lindalewellyn.com/recommendations/)

Generally, a lesson is 50 minutes per week, or 50 minutes every other week.  We start with a 10 minute stretch and warm-up, work our voices out for about 30 minutes, then 10 minutes for a song. However, when you enter my studio we’re on your time, so we can structure that time any way you’d like! Beginners generally need more exercising and advanced students need more song time. I prefer to have students commit to a minimum of 12 lessons once we’ve done the initial lesson to see if it’s a good fit! These are Regularly Scheduled Lessons, and get scheduling priority.  I can also take on a student for short-term A La Carte Lessons if it seems appropriate and my schedule isn’t full. If you start studying voice and quit after a few lessons, you haven’t given it a chance. It’s like deciding to get in shape at the gym but only going once or twice! Growing & changing your voice takes consistency, thoughtfulness & patience.  If you decide to take the time to work-out, nurture, and learn about your voice, that knowledge will last a lifetime.

All styles & all levels of experience are welcome, starting at age 12.

Initial or A La Carte Students

If you don’t want to commit to a regular schedule, you don’t have to!  You’ll just pay a little more for the lessons.

Regularly Scheduled Students

If you commit to taking at least 3 months of weekly or alternating week lessons on a regular day & time, you are a Regularly Scheduled Student and pay the lower price. (for Example- each Tuesday @ 3:00 or every other Thursday @ 4:30)  I will book the time & day we agree on for at least 3 months out and additionally you will agree to handle all rescheduling yourself on my Acuity Calendar.

There are 3 ways you can reschedule or make up a voice lesson:

  1. Find your Acuity New Appointment email notification & click on Change/Cancel Appointment to reschedule, up to 24 hrs before a lesson.

  2. Go to the Acuity calendar on the Voice Lessons page of this web site and Login to see all your upcoming appointments, reschedule up to 24 hrs before. (if you have registered for an account with Acuity that allows you to Login)

  3. Come to my monthly Group Make Up Lesson. (only option with less than 24 hr notice)

You can reschedule lessons for any reason up to 24 hrs before lesson time, and up to 40 days into the future. You can reschedule a lesson 2 times only. If a Regular Schedule is too challenging for you to stick with most of the time, go with A La Carte! Rescheduling for any reason for Regularly Scheduled or A La Carte Students is through Acuity or Group Make Up Lessons. Example– you are Regularly Scheduled every week & are taking a vacation next month; pay for the usual 4 lessons and reschedule yourself with Acuity or request a Group Make Up Lesson. Example– you scheduled an Al La Carte Lesson next week and now have a conflict; reschedule yourself with Acuity or request a Group Make Up Lesson. Example– you have a lesson today and don’t feel well; request a Group Make Up Lesson.a
